Child Safety Seat Types Besides considering the child's weight and age, the primary factor when choosing a child safety seat is confirming your car's interface type (ISOFIX/LATCH/seatbelt) and purchasing a compatible seat. During a child's early years, parents need to choose appropriate seats based on their child's growth stage: infants under 1 year old or weighing less than 13 kg should use rear-facing seats; toddlers aged 1-4 years can use forward-facing seats; and children aged 4-12 years can use booster seats. Currently, there are two main standards for classifying child safety seats: the traditional ECE R44 is based on weight, while the newer ECE R129 (i-Size) rule is primarily based on height. Different age groups require different types of child safety seats.

Quality and Brand: When purchasing a child safety seat, always choose a product that has passed China's Compulsory Product Certification (3C certification). Beyond that, higher-level certifications such as EU i-Size (ECE R129) or ADAC represent higher safety standards. Also, try to choose child safety seats that meet energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and low-carbon requirements. Focus on the core safety design of the product, such as whether it has an effective side-impact protection system, uses high-cushioning materials (such as EPP, Cobra memory foam, etc.), and a stable restraint system (such as ISOFIX with support legs or top straps). Do not use safety seats older than 6 years, missing parts, or without manufacturer information. If choosing a used safety seat, ensure it has not been used in an accident. Never use a child safety seat that has been in a collision. Furthermore, it is strongly discouraged to buy used safety seats, as they may have hidden damage, aged parts, or have exceeded their service life, and their condition is difficult to verify. Always strictly follow the product instruction manual to avoid safety hazards caused by misoperation or improper use.

Comfort and Convenience: Consumers can choose reputable brands and quality car seats based on their budget. Modern car seats offer significant improvements in comfort and convenience, such as: choosing skin-friendly, breathable, antibacterial, and flame-retardant fabrics; considering features like 360-degree rotation and one-handed gear adjustment; and intelligent functions like ventilation, temperature control, and installation status indicators. Newborns should use infant carrier-style car seats. Especially important is using rear-facing seats for infants under 1 year old or weighing less than 13 kg, and maximizing the duration of rear-facing use to better protect their fragile head, neck, and spine.
